Marine measures

If you plan to build, excavate or undertake any other work at or near the sea, you must apply for permission from Trondheim Port Authority.

Which measures require an application?

An application form must be used when you apply to Trondheim Port Authority for measures pursuant to the Ports and Waterways Act. You must have a permit before you can establish measures that can affect safety, traffic or defense and emergency preparedness interests at sea.

This applies to activities within the following municipalities: Orkland, Skaun, Trondheim, Malvik, Stjørdal, Frosta, Levanger, Verdal, Inderøy, Steinkjer, Indre Fosen, Namsos, Frøya and Hitra.

Typical measures include:

  • Construction of quays, piers and jetties
  • Mooring facility
  • Laying wires, pipes and more in the sea
  • Excavation, dredging and dumping

However, the list is not exhaustive. Other measures that may hinder or complicate other uses or normal navigation in the waters are also subject to application, such as boat races or other traffic activities.

Applications
