Nyhavna is undergoing a major development process where central industrial and port areas will be transformed for urban purposes.

As the largest landowner, Trondheim Port Authority has initiated studies to investigate possibities to relocate the current industrial and port-related activities. Formal cooperation-forums have been established to take care of planning the re-regulation of Nyhavna.

For many of today’s businesses at Nyhavna, this offers a demanding restructuring that can have great significance on today’s operations. At the same time, the impending development at Nyhavna represents an exciting potential for new stakeholders and companies.

Municipal sub-plan for Nyhavna

A wew municipal sub-plan for the Nyhavna area was adopted by the City Council on 28 April 2016. The new municipal sub-plan will facilitate an urban structure with urban buildings and varied land use, a fine-meshed bicycle and pedestrian-friendly street network, environmentally friendly public transportation and a coherent green structure with good living areas.

Relocation of current industry located at Nyhavna

It is a goal for the Port of Trondheim to maintain the current level of activity – and ensure good, area-efficient, maritime locations to the industry that depend on sea transportation.
